How to Deep Condition Your Hair

DIY Hair conditioning

Hair conditioning is a crucial aspect of hair care. Regardless of how healthy your hair may naturally be, conditioning plays a big part to maintain your hair in tip top condition.

You might be surprised to learn how much control you have on your hair health. We’ll also walk you through a simple routine you can practice at home to keep your hair in good shape all seasons.

Why Deep Conditioning?

In this age where you can have almost any type of hair care product for instant treatment, you might be wondering why there is a need to deep condition. Well, the answer is quite simple.

Instant treatments and styling products are for temporary use only. For example, a hair spray or a straightener is only effective temporarily. With healthy tresses, your hair becomes more manageable and you require less of styling products. We recommend frequent inflamed scalp treatment and conditioning, especially with the humid weather in Singapore.

Deep Conditioning at Home

At PHS Hairscience, we provide trichologist-certified programmes for hair and scalp. To bring out maximum benefits, advanced technologies, equipment and botanical products are utilized during treatments. At home, you can try out a simple deep conditioning regime to give your manes an extra boost too.

6 Steps to Deep Conditioning Your Hair

  • Step 1 - Comb with Bristle Pad Brush: Do it gently from the roots to the hair tips. Remove all tangles. If your hair is too tangled, we suggest you use a wide toothcomb.

  • Step 2 - Dampen Your Hair: Dampen it with a bit of water. Ensure that there is no water dripping off the tips.

  • Step 3 - Apply the Conditioner: Take a few pumps and apply to your hair combing through with fingers. You can use any conditioner of your choice but we suggest using one based on your scalp and hair type.

  • Step 4 - Pile your Hair: Stack all your hair on your head and wear a shower cap.

  • Step5 - Hair Dryer: Using medium heat level, heat your shower cap and make sure that the dryer doesn’t go too close to your head.

  • Step 6 - Wait and Wash: Let your hair rest for ten minutes. Rinse with water and towel dry your hair.
